The Couples Therapy Process

Cecelia’s structured approach to couples therapy ensures that each partner feels heard, understood, and supported throughout the process. Here’s how Cecelia works with you to achieve your relationship goals:

1. Free 15-Minute Phone Consultation

Your journey begins with a free 15-minute phone consultation. This initial conversation allows Cecelia to understand your needs and determine if couples therapy services are the right fit for you. It’s a chance for you to ask any questions and get a sense of how Cecelia can help.

2. Comprehensive Assessment Session (75 minutes)

The first session is a comprehensive 75-minute assessment with both partners. During this session:

- Gather detailed information about your relationship history, current challenges, and goals for therapy.

- Identify key areas of focus for subsequent sessions.

- Establish a safe and open environment for both partners to share their perspectives.

3. Individual Intake Sessions (60 minutes each)

Following the initial assessment, Cecelia will conduct two individual intake sessions. During each of these, one partner meets with the Cecelia to discuss personal perspectives, individual concerns, and any sensitive issues they may prefer to address privately. These individual sessions allow each partner to express themselves freely and help Cecelia gain a deeper understanding of the relationship dynamics from both perspectives.

4. Joint Couples Therapy Sessions (60 minutes each)

After the individual sessions, we move into joint therapy sessions. Each session lasts 60 minutes and focuses on:

- Enhancing Communication: Improving how partners express their thoughts and feelings and listen to each other.

- Conflict Resolution: Developing effective strategies to manage and resolve disagreements constructively.

- Emotional Connection: Strengthening the emotional bond and fostering deeper intimacy and trust.
